Hospitality in the middle of the forest.
Unique in the Palatinate is the large selection of rustic huts along the trails.
Many of the huts are maintained by the more than 100-year-old "Pfälzerwald-Verein" (Palatinate Forest Association) and the "Naturfreunde Pfalz" (Palatinate Friends of Nature), are run by volunteers and are therefore only open from spring to late fall, usually on weekends. Other huts are operated all year round, many no longer have to fear comparison with restaurants in the villages.
The culinary offer ranges from simple sandwiches to liver dumplings, pig's stomach and bratwurst with sauerkraut to steam dumplings, soups and often homemade cakes. Of course, a refreshing Riesling spritzer should not be missing!
In the forest of the Freinsheim holiday region, the hut at the Ungeheuersee, the hut at the Weilach as well as the forester's lodge Lindemannsruhe and the kiosk at the Bismarck tower are waiting for your visit during and after the hike in the forest district of the "Ganerben".
