A traveller of the 18th century described the location of Herxheim am Berg in his travel notes as "amphitheatrically" situated, which anyone approaching the village from the east can see from afar.

The view from the castle garden behind the church across the Rhine plain to the Taunus, Odenwald and Black Forest is simply fantastic. During the Herxheim wine and sparkling wine symposium "Kurpfalzblick" in summer, you can enjoy it in a particularly pleasant atmosphere.

The Protestant church of St. Jakob is one of the oldest sacred buildings in the Palatinate. Its foundation dates back to a predecessor building from the 8th century. It houses wall paintings from the 12th century and an altar with baptismal font from the 14th century. In addition to its Romanesque origins, the church itself also has Gothic and Baroque building elements.

Remains of the medieval protective wall can still be found in Herxheim am Berg. It is part of the historic "Pfaffenhof" and was built as a protective wall against the Electoral Palatinate.

The "Felsenberg" nature reserve, which has existed since 1954 and covers some 300 ha, with its limestone rocks and plant rarities, offers nature lovers ample opportunity to observe flora and fauna.

At 212 m above sea level, Herxheim am Berg is the highest village directly on the German Wine Route. The village lies in a wide vineyard area on a foothill of the front Haardt Mountains. And it goes without saying that there is good wine in Herxheim...
